Greetings MacFarland Family,
As we start this second year of the new MacFarland Middle School, I want to thank you all for your support and trust that you have instilled in the MacFarland Team by choosing to send your middle school student to MacFarland. My goal remains to build up MacFarland and put it on the path to becoming the premier middle school in the District.
I began my career in education more than 12 years ago when I started as a Spanish Teacher in North Carolina. I have worked in School Leadership here in Washington, DC since 2011. In DCPS, I have served as an assistant principal at McKinley Tech High School, Powell Elementary, and Roosevelt High School, and at MacFarland Middle School. I also served as a Mary Jane Patterson Fellow at Eastern and H.D. Woodson High Schools. In my leadership journey, I have had the chance to work under great principals and hope to bring that knowledge with me as I lead MacFarland.
I remain committed to building MacFarland Middle into a school that will serve our students both academically as well as socially and emotionally. This school year, as compared to last year, we doubled in both student and staff size. The focus in building a great team remains the same as it was last year; we are building a community of support for every student that attends MacFarland Middle School. The successes of the past year are largely due to the efforts of our founding MacFarland team. This year, I am happy to celebrate the new members of the team who are just as dedicated to the success of all students.
I look forward to working with the parents and community members through the expansion of this year, as well as next year and the years beyond. That expansion will include the opening of a newly renovated building in August of 2018. I hope that you will connect with the school during our school activities and our monthly meetings. Bienvenidos a la Escuela Intermedia MacFarland
Saludos a las Familias de MacFarland,
Al comenzar este segundo año de la Escuela Intermedia MacFarland, quiero agradecerles por el apoyo y la confianza que le han proporcionado al Equipo de MacFarland al escoger nuestra escuela para enviar a sus estudiantes de escuela intermedia. Mi objetivo continúa siendo el desarrollo de MacFarland y colocarla en el camino para que llegue a ser la escuela intermedia más sobresaliente del Distrito.
Comencé con mi carrera en educación hace más de 12 años cuando me desempeñe como Maestro de Español en Carolina del Norte. Me he desempeñado como Líder Escolar aquí en Washington, DC desde el 2011. En las EPDC, he llevado a cabo el cargo de asistente del/de la director/a en la Escuela Secundaria McKinley Tech, la Escuela Primaria Powell, la Escuela Secundaria Roosevelt y la Escuela Intermedia MacFarland. También me desempeñe como miembro de Mary Jane Patterson en las Escuelas Secundarias Eastern y H.D. Woodson. En mi camino de liderazgo he tenido la oportunidad de trabajar bajo la dirección de grandes directores/as y espero llevar ese conocimiento conmigo mientras lidero MacFarland.
Permanezco comprometido en desarrollar a la Escuela Intermedia MacFarland como una escuela que brinda servicios a nuestros/as estudiantes tanto académica como social y emocionalmente. Este año escolar, en comparación con el año pasado, nos hemos duplicado tanto en el tamaño de nuestros/as estudiantes como en el del personal escolar. El enfoque de desarrollar un buen equipo permanece siendo el mismo del año pasado; estamos desarrollando una comunidad de apoyo para cada estudiante que asista a la Escuela Intermedia MacFarland. Los éxitos del año pasado se deben en gran parte al esfuerzo de nuestro equipo fundador de MacFarland. Este año, me complace celebrar a los nuevos miembros del equipo que también están dedicados al éxito de todos/as los/as estudiantes.
Espero trabajar con los padres y miembros de la comunidad a través de este año escolar, así como el próximo año y los años venideros. Esa expansión incluirá la apertura de un edificio recientemente renovado en el mes de agosto del 2018. Espero que usted se comunique con la escuela durante nuestras actividades y reuniones mensuales.
